Brent Oil price benchmark ‘in urgent need of reform’

Brent Oil, the pricing benchmark for two thirds of the world’s oil supply, is “crumbling” and is in urgent need of reform, a new study into the market argues.

Liz Bossley, chief executive of Consilience Energy Advisory Group and author of the study, said too many oil contracts were being tied to Brent at a time when North Sea output was falling and demands for tighter controls had been growing in an unregulated sector.
